1946 - 1975

Harry Riehl was the founder of American Scale Co., Inc., which he started in 1946. He was a scale technician who recognized the need for an independent scale company that could service a wide variety of weighing equipment while providing better customer service, faster response times, and competitive pricing. Under his leadership, American Scale grew from a small operation with two employees into a respected scale manufacturer and service company. He led the company until 1975.

1975 - 1990

"In 1975 he turned the reins over to Don and Dan." The two brothers then purchased Carey Scale in 1976 and began manufacturing their own truck scales, which became the foundation of the ASCO truck scale line.

1990-2012

Mark and Susan Peters played an important role in American Scale's history, helping guide the company through decades of growth and innovation. Mark Peters, the son of Dan Peters, became President and General Manager, continuing the family legacy while expanding the company's reputation for quality products and customer service. Together, the Peters family helped strengthen American Scale's position as a trusted leader in the weighing industry. Their commitment to employees, customers, and long-term relationships helped shape the culture and success of the company for generations.

2012-2013

Continuing the legacy they helped build, Mark and Susan ultimately sold American Scale to Dave Eccles and passed it to his son, David Eccles III, ensuring the company would continue serving customers well into the future.

2013 - PRESENT

In 2013, David Eccles III took ownership of American Scale and began a new chapter of growth and innovation. Under his leadership, the company expanded from a single operation into five offices serving customers across California, Nevada, and Hawaii. By investing in technology, software integration, and strategic acquisitions, American Scale broadened its capabilities while maintaining its commitment to customer service and quality. Today, the company continues to build on its proud legacy while positioning itself as a leader in modern weighing and automation solutions.
